You may remember this post. Since then, I'm pleased to report the homemade laundry soap is getting our clothes clean and saving us money. I do miss seeing suds - while this is advertised as a low sudsing soap, it's really more like little or no suds. It took me a while to believe the clothes were actually clean. There's not much of a scent, but I've got sensitive skin and not a fan of the smells anyway. mainly, I like knowing the stuff we wash with is made of 3 simple ingredients and no other chemicals. And lo and behold today, I found this recipe (which calls for the 2 of the same ingredients) for homemade dish detergent. I'll be running this through the dishwasher soon and will report my findings!
Dish detergent-
Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
20 Mule Team Borax
Pretty simple:
Equal parts of each (I think I initially mixed up about 1 cup).
Add 2 Tablespoons to the dishwasher dispenser. (I used 1 1/2 Tablespoons).
*This recipe also suggested using Distilled White Vinegar in the rinse compartment.

cool! you'll have to let me know how it goes!
And I forgot to mention how SUPER CHEAP this method is! I spent $5 in ingredients, and have already made 3x 3qt bottles of laundry detergent! So save your old laundry bottles ladies and give this a try!
yes, but does it get the dishes clean??? I mean clean enough so if mom in law was coming to visit, she'd approve?? I may have to try this, but I hate to "wash" my dishes before I load them in the dishwasher.
uhmm yea, I'm potty training a 2yr old, and just mopped the floors, which were covered in a nice combo of pee and milk... so I'm not really trying to impress ANYONE with the cleanliness of my dishes. Just trying to keep everyone basically clean and fed at the moment. :)
That is awesome!! So what is your recipe for laundry detergent anyway? I just invested in some spray bottles, vinegar, and essential oils to clean all my counters, mirrors, and bathrooms. Works great (and saves money too!)
I ran over here after seeing your comment on my wife's blog (stillhisgirl). I'm still disturbed by the "hater of cheese" name. I'm actually considering changing my screen name to "CheeseMan" or "Stinky Cheese Man" to balance out your hatred.
Anyway, glad to see you and your homemade detergent. Cindy has intentions of making this.
